Cookbook Club / Month 2

Jump to Recipe

Cookbook Club is back for round 2 (and there's a giveaway involved) and I'm so pumped. We're heading into the holiday season and that means lots and lots of dinner parties, brunches, gatherings and events that need great food.

Here's the deal if you're new to cookbook club! Each month I announce the cookbook of the month and then we can buy it, borrow it, check it out from the library and cook! Cook by yourself, invite your friends over, host your own cookbook club with the assigned book, whatever floats your boat. The idea is for us all to cook recipes from the same book in the same month. Pick one or two or three recipes. Whatever you can manage! THEN… for one of my Facebook Live posts (every Wednesday at 11am PST) we’ll cook a recipe from the cookbook together and you guys can tune in, share your own pics from the recipes you’ve made, share your friends photos, you name it!!

We can talk in real time about the cookbooks, what we loved about certain recipes, what we didn’t love, what worked, what didn’t…. the whole nine yards. And then we’ll do it all again the next month. How fun is this? We get to virtually eat our way through a different cookbook every single month. I’m so jazzed about this idea and I hope you will be too. So let’s get round 2 started!

This month is all about Small Victories by Julia Turshen! Julia is a writer and recipe-developer and has coauthored tons of cookbooks like Spain...A Culinary Road Trip with Mario Batali, It's All Good with Gwyneth Paltrow, Mastering My Mistakes in the Kitchen with Dana Cowin, as well as The Kimchi Chronicles, Hot Bread Kitchen, The Fat Radish Kitchen Diaries, and Buvette!! Basically she's a rockstar and Small Victories is her first solo book and it's ah-mazing. It's loaded with advice, recipes and tons of ideas to make home cooking a breeze and the forward is by Ina Garten and who isn't obsessed with her!? There's a little something for everyone here - Avocado Kimchi Toast, Snow Day Udon Soup, Shaved Carrot + Avocado Salad, Creamed Corn, Turkey + Ricotta Meatballs, Lasagna, Crispy Fish with Bacon + Chives, Peach + Bourbon Milkshakes... I mean the list goes on!

Here’s the link to the book on Amazon (Small Victories) if you want to have it delivered or go grab it from your local bookstore or library! I’m starting to cook my way through tonight!! Feel free to leave any comments here if you have questions. On Wednesday November 30th at 11am PST let’s all plan on tuning into Facebook live and discuss!

AND - if you want to take your chances and maybe win the cookbook, all you have to do is leave a comment below telling me you're in for cookbook club round 2 and you're entered. I'll pick 3 winners at random by Friday and get the books out to you next week!  Giveaway closed!! Winners were notified below in the comments and via email!

PS…. when you make something from the book, if you post it on insta use the hashtag #WGCcookbookclub so we can see!!

PSS - here's cookbook club month 1 in case you're interested!

  1. I know I am late to this one, but I received this one for Christmas and have been non-stop reading/cooking from this. A couple of favorites so far.. the cold elixir! (seriously, it cures things), the sour cream pancakes with blueberries were the perfect New Years Day treat. Thanks for the inspo to put this on my Christmas list!

  2. I love the cookbook club idea. Whenever I buy one, I try to make at least 10 items from it before putting it on the shelf. Small Victories is a great name by the way. That's all we need in life is a lot of small victories. Thanks for the inspiration!!
