Cookbooks galore + a giveaway

Greetings from 10,000 feet up in the air. Okay, so I don’t really know how high up in the sky I am, but I’m heading home to Los Angeles after a great trip to NYC. One of my favorite parts about this trip was getting to meet so many new and fabulous people who have gorgeous cookbooks.

I’m a little bit of a cookbook fanatic. They all live on a special bookcase, dedicated to cookbooks, in my living room. And obviously they are color coordinated. I mean it only makes sense to color coordinate your cookbooks right? I color coordinate my closet, so what’s wrong with doing it all over the house.

This past week I found a bunch of new books that have already been ordered and will hopefully be arriving within the next 24 hours. Gotta love Amazon Prime :)

So here they are! And because I’m so jazzed about these kick ass cookbooks, I’m hosting a giveaway!   1. They all sound great (I actually have Cook This now and it’s phenom) but I think I would have to choose The Newlywed Cookbook. My bf and I just moved in together and cooking is our favorite part. I love getting new ideas!

    I would love a copy of Ripe–I’ve been trying to eat more veggies lately, but I’m struggling with creative ways to prepare them. Especially with farmer’s market season coming up, it would be fun to have a new set of fruit and veggie recipes!

The southern girl in me wants to say ‘fried chicken and champagne’ while the baked goods lover in me is drooling over the ‘chewy, gooey, crsipy, and crunchy melt in your mouth cookies’ and at the same time the nutritious me is dying to see what kinds of recipes are filling the pages of ripe. Maybe it’s the colorful cover, or the fresh ideas for eating veggies and fruits…RIPE wins!

    PS made the BBQ Chicken quinoa – one batch with chicken and one without – totally yummy either way!
    Making your slutty brownies for my not so nutritious minded cousin whom I’m visiting in LA this weekend – mostly because I want an excuse to nibble on one myself:)

  25. Typical me…I can’t make a decision. It’s a tie between The Newlywed Cookbook & The Glorious Pasta of Italy. The former because I still consider myself a newlywed & the latter because my sister in law is half Italian and I’d like at least ONE italian cookbook!

  26. Ripe! Moving to the Midwest really gives me some great opportunities to go to Farmer’s markets and expand my fresh fruit and veggie experiences. I would LOVE to know how to actually USE all the options I have available.

If I were going to make a purchase, I would have to say that Serve Yourself would be at the top of the list. Not only because I need to learn how to cook for one, but because the recipes sound wonderful!!

  35. Cook This Now. I am a big fan of Melissa Clark and read her column every Wednesday in the NYT. I also don’t buy cookbooks anymore (well, except for Ina Gartens!) thanks to the internet, but this one would be great to have!

  41. Cook This Now– this is the lifestyle I try to follow! Washington apples should not be in a grocery store in February! Using what is fresh, tasty, and avaliable is fun and healthy! Looks like a good one! :)

  42. Cook this now. The reason I would like this book is because I an a busy mom working full-time with a husband who can barely make a sandwich for himself, so I need to cook recipes that are simple and quick.

  63. Wow, what a treat! Checked out all the cookbooks and it would be a tough choice for sure! Only one??? Well, I like Fried Chicken and Champagne, Serve Yourself: Nightly Adventures in Cooking for One and The Newlywed Cookbook but I think I like Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables cookbook best. Maybe because I have a wonderful garden and love to cook fresh from it as well as beautiful New Hampshire wild blueberries, apple orchards all around me and a very healthy appetite!

    Came across your blog by accident…what a treat. I especially like your 50 things about you! I have been collecting cookbooks for 20 years and there seems no end to my addiction.
    For my choice of your cookbook picks I choose the Ripe Cookbook.
    I live on the beautiful island of Kauai and my favorite thing to do is cruise the Farmer’s Markets. I shop for the most eye catching local seasonal vegetables and fruits. With excitement and an inner smile, I race home to create a healthy vibrant meal to share with my husband.
    I’m looking forwarding to trying your Cowboy Caviar. We have a huge tree in our back yard, with amazing dinosaur size avocados…they are my favorite too.
