Greetings from 10,000 feet up in the air. Okay, so I don’t really know how high up in the sky I am, but I’m heading home to Los Angeles after a great trip to NYC. One of my favorite parts about this trip was getting to meet so many new and fabulous people who have gorgeous cookbooks.
I’m a little bit of a cookbook fanatic. They all live on a special bookcase, dedicated to cookbooks, in my living room. And obviously they are color coordinated. I mean it only makes sense to color coordinate your cookbooks right? I color coordinate my closet, so what’s wrong with doing it all over the house.
This past week I found a bunch of new books that have already been ordered and will hopefully be arriving within the next 24 hours. Gotta love Amazon Prime ![]()
So here they are! And because I’m so jazzed about these kick ass cookbooks, I’m hosting a giveaway! One lucky What’s Gaby Cooking winner gets to pick whichever book they want and I’ll have it shipped right to you to join your own cookbook collection! Just leave a comment here telling me which book sounds like your new favorite! Contest closes Friday at Midnight PST.
So… here goes… my latest favorite cookbooks…
The Newlywed Cookbook by Sarah Copeland
Serve Yourself by Joe Yonan
Chewy Gooey Crispy Crunchy Melt-in-Your-Mouth Cookies by Alice Medrich
Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables by Cheryl Sternman Rule
Cook This Now: 120 Easy and Delectable Dishes You Can’t Wait to Make by Melissa Clark
Fried Chicken and Champagne by Lisa Dupar
The Glorious Pasta of Italy by Domenica Marchetti
So let me know which one looks like your favorite! And I’ll announce the winner this weekend ![]()
*Full disclosure* I’m hosting this giveaway with me, myself and I. And I linked to the books via amazon because that was easiest. I don’t have an amazon affiliate account or anything like that. Just wanted to make life easy for you guys ’cause you’re awesome!
Update!! Thanks to everyone who entered! I wish I could send you all books but there’s just one winner today! Congratulations to #17 Caroline @ chocolate & carrots!!
To claim your book, just email me at whatsgabycooking@gmail.com and I’ll send it off right away

I would love to have a copy of _Serve Yourself_. I find myself doing a lot less solo cooking than I’d like, so I could really use the inspiration!

it’s so hard to say! The southern girl in me wants to say ‘fried chicken and champagne’ while the baked goods lover in me is drooling over the ‘chewy, gooey, crsipy, and crunchy melt in your mouth cookies’ and at the same time the nutritious me is dying to see what kinds of recipes are filling the pages of ripe. Maybe it’s the colorful cover, or the fresh ideas for eating veggies and fruits…RIPE wins!
PS made the BBQ Chicken quinoa – one batch with chicken and one without – totally yummy either way!
Making your slutty brownies for my not so nutritious minded cousin whom I’m visiting in LA this weekend – mostly because I want an excuse to nibble on one myself:)

Typical me…I can’t make a decision. It’s a tie between The Newlywed Cookbook & The Glorious Pasta of Italy. The former because I still consider myself a newlywed & the latter because my sister in law is half Italian and I’d like at least ONE italian cookbook!

Chewy Gooey looks good to me.
I love cookbooks, but the internet has me spoiled and I don’t buy books very often any more. If I were going to make a purchase, I would have to say that Serve Yourself would be at the top of the list. Not only because I need to learn how to cook for one, but because the recipes sound wonderful!!

Ripe looks like a great cookbook!
I definitely have to go with the Newlywed Cookbook by Sarah Copeland!
I also just returned from New York. The cookbook I bought on this trip was the Sucre book from Laduree. I think I’m in heaven. I’m fascinated by all your books but especially the cookie book. Do you think that means I’ve been dieting too long?

Amazing looking cookbooks!! I’d love the Newlywed Cookbook.
CHEWY, GOOEY !!!!!! LOOKS WONDERFUL!!!
The obvious choice based on the cover and name would have been Fried Chicken and Champagne by Lisa Dupar. Seriously? Talk about a happy meal! I may need to have that combo some weekend. But, alas, after a thorough review the winner is Cook This Now: 120 Easy and Delectable Dishes You Can’t Wait to Make by Melissa Clark. The comment from Sassy Radish really nailed the decision for me – “The book is structured seasonally, month by month, making it really easy for those getting into seasonally inspired cooking…”. It just makes so much sense. Runner-up is Ripe: A Fresh, Colorful Approach to Fruits and Vegetables by Cheryl Sternman Rule. All three of these books are on my Amazon wishlist. Thanks so much for sharing these great finds and for the giveaway. Cheers!
decisions….decisions!
I’d love Ripe or Cook This Now…

Dear Gaby,
Came across your blog by accident…what a treat. I especially like your 50 things about you! I have been collecting cookbooks for 20 years and there seems no end to my addiction.
For my choice of your cookbook picks I choose the Ripe Cookbook.
I live on the beautiful island of Kauai and my favorite thing to do is cruise the Farmer’s Markets. I shop for the most eye catching local seasonal vegetables and fruits. With excitement and an inner smile, I race home to create a healthy vibrant meal to share with my husband.
I’m looking forwarding to trying your Cowboy Caviar. We have a huge tree in our back yard, with amazing dinosaur size avocados…they are my favorite too.
Much Aloha
