I know breakfast is the most important meal of your day but before I started training for my half marathon I rarely had more than a glass of Orange Juice. My breakfast routine has since changed since starting to train… I rotate between smoothies, fresh fruit and a piece of toast with a dollop of hummus (I know weird right?!) Anyway, whenever I made oatmeal I always experimented with different toppings. I love to add fresh fruit because it’s a double dose of goodness for the day. My favorite combination is Strawberry and Banana because it reminds me of my favorite kind of smoothie. I also use plain almond milk rather than regular milk because it adds a depth of extra flavor and it doesn’t irritate my stomach like regular milk does. To make things a little bit better I added a sprinkle of Cinnamon Brown Sugar on top of the bananas and voila… breakfast in under 4 minutes flat!

What is your favorite way to prepare oatmeal? Do you like adding nut or fruit or both? Do you usually make it with water, milk or something else? What is your favorite flavor?
Print This Post1 packet of Quaker Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal
2/3 cup Almond Milk
1 banana, sliced
5 strawberries, sliced
2 tsp brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Place the milk in a small saucepan and heat over high heat until bubbling. Add the packet of oatmeal and stir to combine. Set aside to let the oats absorb all of the liquid. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl and add the strawberries and bananas. Sprinkle the cinnamon brown sugar across the top of the oatmeal and serve.

Strawberry + banana is my favorite fruit combo!
The new header is so pretty! Thanks for the oatmeal tip- I’ve recently started adding wheat germ to mine, and it’s super-good!
I can’t wait for fresh local strawberries to start showing up in my neighborhood farmers markets! I have oatmeal every morning and am partial to the maple and brown sugar. I love your photography!
Like your new header! I love oatmeal for breakfast! I would say my favorite is a fruit of choice, a nut of choice! I love strawberries also!! Beautiful photos!
I eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Lots of cinnamon, a few raisins, and a splash of soy milk!
I add uncooked oatmeal to regular cereal to boost the nutritional value.
And, of course, oatmeal cookies! They’re perfect for breakfast
I love the new look! I know this is a sponsored post, but I love the combo of strawberries and bananas on unflavored oatmeal. A swirl of almond butter also adds a great protein boost.
my favorite way to eat oatmeal is to microwave old fashioned oats with water, then add a chopped up apple (or peach, when they’re in season!) and lots of milk. it’s addicting! I love the difference in textures between the crunchy apple and creamy oats
I like to make my oatmeal with soy milk, and I always add plenty of pure maple syrup! Strawberries are my favorite topping, when they’re in season at the farmer’s market.
My girls either eat oatmeal for breakfast or miso soup. YUM! LOVE LOVE LOVE the new look!
Totally my kind of breakfast. I like using milk instead of water for the taste; would add hazelnuts to it for the crunch (and the extra value). Keeps you going!
I love oatmeal any combination but my favorite is with apples. I heat the skim milk or unsweetened Silk with added sugar and lots of cinnamon (love it!). Then I add the old fashioned oats and one sliced apple to the container and let it sit in the oven for a while. It tastes wonderful…
I LOVE oatmeal! I have it every morning for breakfast. I love adding blueberries to mine:)

Yeay! I love oatmeal and the almond milk addition. I’ve been fasting for Greek Orthodox lent (no bleeding-animal products) and so this is great. PS. Love your blog.

Love the beautiful new header. My new favorite oatmeal is “cinnamon”. It’s not as sweet as the “maple brown sugar”. All those toppings and fruit will be delicious on it!
Your new page design looks awesome!! Just gorgeous. The colors really pop.
Love my oatmeal! Yours sounds fab. Just posted mine as well (from workshop)….for extra protein I whip in some egg and ricotta.
gonna go tweet ya!
I love oatmeal. Usually just mix in some chopped banana and pecans; sprinkle with a little cinnamon and I’m good to go.
Honey, the site looks INCREDIBLE! Love the redesign, update! And Congrats on getting all this great attention from Quaker. It’s about time people got excited about healthy eating!!! xoxoxo, Brooke
I hadn’t thought of using almond milk… I usually add blueberries and flax to mind, but will try your recipe for a new nutritional boost! I have a number of oatmeal packets that I need to use before the TX heat sets in. Love your newsletter and can’t wait to make hummus this weekend.
I’m a HUGE fan of steel cut oats:) I find the texture to be a little more substantial than regular oatmeal.
I’m so glad I found your beautiful website. I arrived via Taste Spotting when I clicked on that pleasing picture of the breakfast setting of oatmeal and fruit. What an array of red, white, yellow and a bit of dark green. Very refreshingly simple and irresistible, too. I love things like that. My oatmeal is plain Quaker instant during the week. On the weekends I cook the Old Fashioned Quaker Oats. I use water to prepare both versions. Then when it is ready I sprinkle on a spoonful of sugar and add 1% milk. That is my favorite satisfying breakfast. The steam, aroma, and richness is the best. I was raised on Quaker oats and now I see oats as an ingredient and topping for so many whole grain muffins and breads. Sometimes when I’m stirring the milk into the hot oats I am aware of how this oatmeal experience takes me back into my past and into the future at the same time. Thank you for the opportunity to dwell upon Quaker oats for a minute here.
I looove oatmeal!! I eat it every morning, usually with bananas, but I have never tried strawberry’s, I will have to once they come to the portland farmers market that looks really good!!
