What’s Gaby Cooking Cookbook Club

It’s happening!! The What’s Gaby Cooking Cookbook Club is here! After snapping a few weeks ago about an actual cookbook club I joined, I got so many snaps back from people loving the idea I decided that we should all do one together! BRILLIANT RIGHT? I’d like to think so 🙂

What's Gaby Cooking Cookbook Club

Here it goes! Each month I’ll announce the cookbook of the month and then we can buy it, borrow it, check it out from the library and cook! Cook by yourself, invite your friends over, host your own cookbook club with the assigned book, whatever floats your boat. The idea is for us all to cook recipes from the same book in the same month. Pick one or two or three recipes. Whatever you can manage! THEN… for one of my Facebook Live posts (every Wednesday at 11am PST) we’ll cook a recipe from the cookbook together and you guys can tune in, share your own pics from the recipes you’ve made, share your friends photos, you name it!!

We can talk in real time about the cookbooks, what we loved about certain recipes, what we didn’t love, what worked, what didn’t…. the whole nine yards. And then we’ll do it all again the next month. How fun is this? We get to virtually eat our way through a different cookbook every single month. I’m so jazzed about this idea and I hope you will be too. So here’s the first book for the inaugural What’s Gaby Cooking Cookbook Club!

Alton Brown: EveryDayCook!! Alton’s recipes are always incredible, properly tested and are all things I’d actually eat! In case you’re not familiar with him, he had a show on Food Network for 15 years, Good Eats, he hosted Iron Chef America (which was legit my favorite show of all times and I always thought I’d make an excellent contestant), not to mention he hosted Feasting on Asphalt and somewhere in between all that he has written seven other books. AND he still does Cutthroat Kitchen too! Needless to say, the man is busy! His new cookbook EveryDayCook is perfection. The recipes, the images, the stories behind every recipe, I’m obsessed. So it’s the perfect way to start cookbook club. I mean, EnchiLasagna” or “Lasagnalada”, Open Sesame Noodles, and Chocapocalypse Cookies! ITS HAPPENING! (ps it’s $21 on amazon and has a photo for every single recipe which is a major score!)

So let’s do it! Here’s the link to the book on Amazon (EveryDayCook) if you want to have it delivered or go grab it from your local bookstore or library! I’m starting to cook my way through tonight!! Feel free to leave any comments here if you have questions. On Wednesday October 26th at 11am PST let’s all plan on tuning into Facebook live and discuss!

PS…. when you make something from the book, if you post it on insta use the hashtag #WGCcookbookclub so we can see!!

PPS…. I have big plans for the #WGCcookbookclub – how fun would it be to travel around the country some months and do actual #WGCcookbookclub dinners in real life! Stay tuned.

PPS – if you think a weekend Facebook live for this might be better – please sound off in the comments below and I’ll do whatever majority rules. Eeeeeeeek! So excited!!!

Don't know what to make,

  1. I love this for so many reasons. 1. I do believe it is the perfect excuse to buy a new cookbook every month. 2. It’s also going to get my to branch out and actually COOK out of a cookbook each month. This is going to be so cool! Maybe every few months or so we can submit cookbook ideas and do a People’s Choice!

  2. This is such a clever and creative idea!! Such a fun way to bring people together over a shared love of cooking and eating good food.

  3. Yet another amazing idea! Cooking fun new things has been put on the back burner since grad school started. This will give me a reason not to get boring about our meals! I’m so in. Thanks for this, Gaby!

  4. Yay, Gaby!! I am so excited and can’t wait to get started. Question (you may have already said this!) Do we start from the beginning and cook through or just cook the ones that look good to us?! Cant wait to start my collection!! Thank you!! xx

  5. I LOVE this! Ordering now. Can’t wait. I think the traveling idea is so neat! Sign me up! Maybe we could travel to you too!

Would anyone be interested in getting together for a live cookbook book club in Chicago?????

  7. What a clever idea! As a new food blogger I can’t wait to see the individual creativity and enthusiasm of all the participants!

  8. I am so excited! Order the book now and I would love a Live Cookbook Session on FB on the weekend. I’m afraid I would never be able to participate on a Wednesday. Either way, I’m still participating!!!

  9. I am SO in!!! I have been telling all my friends around here that I want I want to start a cookbook club, but nobody seems as pumped as I am. So this is PERFECT!!! Also, I literally squealed when you mentioned doing dinners in real life. Ugh, that would be so much fun!!!!
Oh! And a weekend live feed would be lovely, but I can TOTALLY make Wednesdays work!

    Thank you Gaby!!

  10. This sounds like so much fun!!! I’m still branching out as a cook and need all the motivation I can get! I work on Wed though; but sounds like the majority can still do it then…so I’ll just cook away and then check it out later. So excited!

  11. I am so excited about this Gaby, since we international followers can participate in this too
It would be nice if you can announce the name of the cookbook a couple of days before the actual start of the month as it usually takes 10 days for a cookbook to arrive so we dont lose any days 🙂

  12. LOVE the idea ever since you went to the party and am ordering now along with your book I’ve been meaning to order – yay!!! Can’t wait to start cooking and yes come to Austin to do a cookbook party!

    Hugs,
    Angelica

  13. Sounds like a ton of fun. I saw this cookbook at Costco yesterday, I should have picked it up. I’m voting for weekendcookbook party.

  14. When are you all starting? This looks like so much fun! Wednesday’s….my one clinic day of the week so that night does not work. So sad. I would love to join you all from beautiful Colorado!!

  15. I love this! Just found your #2 post and plan to join in asap. I’m actually curious about the cookbook club you joined too. Care to share?

    1. ya!! same concept as this. one book each month, everyone picks a recipe from the book, cooks it and then brings it to someones house for a potluck dinner!! So the whole dinner is from a specific book. SO FUN!

  16. Hey Gaby! Love this idea. Do you think at the end of the month, you could do a recap of your Facebook Live event and show other people’s recipe recreations? Or maybe post pictures/reviews about recipes your readers posted? I missed the FB Live event but am curious to see what people made, and how they turned out. Just an idea :).
