Gaby's Guide to Cabo San Lucas

Jump to Recipe

If I could figure out a way to live part time in Cabo and part time in LA, I'd be the happiest camper ever!

There's really nothing a quick trip to Mexico can't fix! Cabo has been our go-to for the last few years because it's 1: so easy to get to 2: gorgeous and 3: loaded with incredible food. I'm dying to explore other parts of Mexico, like Mexico City, Tulum and beyond... but for today let's talk Cabo! It's the perfect romantic vacation, it's a great place to bring the kids and it's perfect for a group trip or bachelorette party. No matter what the occasion, you'll be happy. Here's my list of favorite things to eat and favorite places to stay!

Gaby's Guide to Cabo

One & Only Palmilla - my favorite place to stay. Everything about the Palmilla is magical including the rooms, the breakfast scene, the swim up bars and the location. It's perfect (but pricey!)

The Resort at Pedregal - my second favorite place to stay. The food here is EVERYTHING. In fact, I can tell you that on our first trip here I gained 8 pounds in 7 days and that is legit not an exaggeration. The food is beyond any hotel food I've ever had.

Flora Farms - my favorite place to eat!! Flora Farms is the original farm to table restaurant in Cabo and it's pretty damn gorgeous. You shouldn't miss it - and you should absolutely make reservations ahead of time. Get there an hour or two early and hang at the bar, shop the boutiques on the property and take a tour through the gardens. And be sure to order whatever pork special is on the menu. GAME CHANGER

Manta at The Cape - it's chic, dark, posh and everything you'd expect from a Thompson property restaurant! Manta is equal parts Mexican and Japanese Izakaya and it's the perfect place for a fun night out with friends.

El Farallon - this super gorgeous and romantic restaurant is nestled into the cliff at Pedregal and the seafood is out of this world. And whatever you do - make sure you go before sunset so you can dine and watch the sun set and then star gaze during dessert!

Edith's - it's an institution and it's not to be missed. Table side guacamole making and margaritas the size of your head. What more could you want?

Huerta Los Tamarindos - another epic farm to table moment happening in Cabo that is not to be missed! Everything is seasonal and gorgeous and I want to rent out the entire property and have my birthday party there!

Acre - rounding out my guide with another farm to table restaurant because hi, have you met me? I'm obsessed. Acre is fantastic for any meal but my favorite is brunch because CHILAQUILES!!!

Am I forgetting anything? I'm already planning my next trip so if you have any recs, should them out below!! xx

  1. Maria Jimenez Restaurante Mexicano is another amazing restaurant we’ve been multiple times when in Cabo.... family owned & very Authentic Mexican food w/ the friendliest staff & reasonably priced ..... cash only, no credit cards just an FYI.... U won’t be disappointed

    1. I agree 100% about Peacock's, and would even put Roasted even higher...don't miss their rooftop hidden speakeasy next door

  2. Such a great list of eating experiences in Cabo. I live in Loreto, BCS, which is north of Cabo. We have the small fishing village feel that Cabo used to have in the 80's. We are starting to get more great restaurants, but the best reasons to visit are the water sports, fishing, hiking and lovely people.
Thanks for the restaurant reviews. I'm saving this for my next trip to Cabo.

  3. I'm going to Cabo on my honeymoon next month, Our hotel has bad food reviews so I will definitely be referring to this post. Thank you!

  4. We are going very soon for the first time! Ahhhhh, I can't wait! I've tried to read every blog I could find. Thanks, these are great tips.

  5. Hi loved the pictures of cabo!! I so want to visit. Can you tell me the best airline you booked with? And is there a certain time of year to go to cabo?

    1. yet, June through September is hurricane season. Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo is Nov-March. The Bisbee Tourney is the biggest marlin fishing tourney in the world and is not to be missed in October.

  6. Thank you so much for this list. I trust your food travel guidance after the hand-holding through Costa Rica, but even more so in Peru. Crazy coincidence went to your site a couple of days ago looking to see if you had any Cabo recs and look here they are. Going next week - we're set for Flora and Ediths, couldn't get into El Farallon. Will try to round out meals with your other suggestions that I think a 16 yearold boy with tolerate. Also love ideas, from the other comments. Thanks all

  7. My family and I have been coming to Cabo for years. All the farm to tables are great (especially Flora Farms) but to really experience the local cuisine you really should eat at a few taquerias. Taqueria Rossy in San Jose del Cabo and Los Claros in Cabo serve fresh fish and shrimp tacos with "help yourself" topping bars filled with a variety of condiments. For carne, in San Jose there is El Fogon and Guacamayas. Don't miss the tacos al pastor! Of course there's always quesadillas everywhere for just a quick snack of melted cheese in fresh tortillas..either corn or flour.
    Enjoy!

  8. You should add Madeira Bistro to your list. A great Brazillian BBQ! I've been to El Farallon a few times and it is not too be missed. Expensive ($$$$$) but an unbelievable setting on the cliff.
