I don't even know where to begin when telling people about my time down in Patagonia. It was a surreal experience. I didn't even feel like I was on earth! The beauty that surrounds that entire region is not to be missed and should be added to your bucket list immediately!! 🙂
If I were planning my honeymoon all over again... this would absolutely be the destination of choice. Between the hotels, food, sights and excursions, there really isn't anything more that you could ask for! While down in the Patagonia region, we hooked up with Quasar Expeditions to show us around.
Remember how obsessed I was with my trip to Alaska and all the people that helped make that extraordinary - well multiply that by 100 and you've got the experience that Quasar Expeditions gives you.
Quasar Expeditions teamed up with Jeep® to give you a once in a lifetime excursion. Rather than sit on a bus with a bunch of strangers, Quasar takes you out in super fab Jeeps that you share with your friends and family. You can pick from 1 of 3 options when you travel with Quasar! You can go with a tour leader/driver, you can go with a tour leader but you are the driver, or you can go totally by yourself and use the self-guided option installed in your Jeep. We did a mish-mash of 1 and 2 because sometimes one of us wanted to drive, and other times we let the tour guides drive! Also, there's a zero tolerance law in Chile which means even if you have the smallest sip of a Pisco Sour at lunch, you're not allowed to drive.
Each day we hopped in our Jeep® and hit the road. One of the best parts about Quasar is that you get to customize your trip - so while we knew we wanted to see specific sites, if we came across a herd of baby sheep, we could pull over and get out to see them. And trust me, that happened a lot. Lambs are quite possibly the cutest things in the entire world, and I am obsessed.
We spent each day in and around the Torres del Paine National Park and explored different areas like Lago Nordernskjold, Salto Grande, Glaciar Grey and other overlooks, lakes, waterfalls and beautiful vistas.
Oh! We also got to ride horses around the Torres del Paine National Park. Hands down, that was a big time highlight for me!
When you do a full Quasar Expedition, you stay at a different luxury hotel each night to ensure that you get to spend as much time exploring the park as possible! It's basically like super posh hotel hopping each night with world rocking views during the day. Now you can see why I'm so obsessed!
Also, I can't forget to mention that this whole experience is 100% carbon free so you leave no trace and don't harm any of the natural surroundings or animals. Huge thanks goes out to everyone at Quasar, especially Johnny, Bea and Carlitos for making my time there so incredibly magical. And get ready for when I return - because I'm bringing the hubby and my parents! I'm officially hooked on Patagonia and all of Chile!
For anyone wanting to visit Patagonia, I can't recommend Quasar highly enough. They were impeccable. AND they also offer tours through the Galapagos. Which means Galapagos 2014 is totally going on the to-do list!
Stay tuned for some recipes inspired by my #onlyinsouthamerica adventures in the coming weeks!
