Gaby's Guide to Mykonos

Last installment of my guides to Greece is ready to roll.... let's go to Mykonos!

I mean where do I even start! We hit Mykonos hard with a big group of friends and really went for it! It's the polar opposite from Santorini in that it's way more about night life. If you read about Santorini you probably gathered that Thomas and I were passed out by 10pm every night and up early to explore. Mykonos is the opposite. We'd spend the days at beach clubs, go out for dinners around 9pm every night and then hit the town for some nightlife after. It was beyond fun and I HIGHLY recommend going with a group of friends. I couldn't have asked for a better week! wLet's do this.

Restaurants!

Caprice - It's the perfect place to watch the sunset and grab a drink before dinner!

Remezzo - one of my favorite dinners of the trip! It's right in town and there's live music. Literally heaven on earth.

Ling Ling - another restaurant with live music (can you sense a theme here?!) This one is more Asian fusion and really good.

Budda Bar at Santa Maria hotel - sushi platters of your dreams! Plus it overlooks an incredible bay with all the yachts!

Spilia - just outside of the main town is this cute beachside restaurant!! Plan on staying for a while and just grazing all day

Nammos - I go into more detail below but regardless of whether beach clubs are your scene or not you HAVE to go here for a meal. You can pick your fish from the case, they'll cook it whole and then break it down table side. I can't wait to go back!

Kiki's Tavern - here's the deal... bring your swimsuit and plan on waiting for a table for a while. There's a private beach right below so you can go take a dip and lay out while you wait. It's BEYOND. The food, the scene. It's a little patio outside of town and there's boxed wine to hold you over while you wait. What more could you ask for.

Beach Clubs

Nammos - easily our favorite beach club of the trip! Get there by 10.30am, if possible because it gets packed and if you're with a group you'll want to get chairs together. You’ll want to call or email before and tell them what day and how many people. They don't take reservations, but they put your name down.  Word to the wise - you should also put in a reservation for lunch in advance of your trip too since the restaurant fills up.  And once you get there confirm your reservation verbally.  It’s great music and good scene, chill vibe and incredible food and drinks. If you stay past 5pm... get ready. It gets loud!!

Scorpios - another incredible beach club with impeccable design!

Principote - more beach clubs. MORE MORE MORE

Solymar - another one! Add it to the list!

Nightlife

Astra - go after dinner, grab a table, order some champagne and dance the night away

Cavo Paradiso - it's a full on club so get ready. And people stay until the sun comes up. But if you're there in July or August it's on fire and so fun!

Hotels

We actually rented a house - but if you're going the hotel route, here are the 2 more gorgeous hotels on the island!

Santa Marina

Belvedere Boutique Hotel

Lastly...transportation!

You may want a driver.  If so, you can text Spiros and he will set it up for you through their service; they’re amazing.  VERY reliable and helpful.  They'll be on standby for you as long as you want.  He has 2 numbers, apparently all cool people do, so text both:

+30 694 2577871 and/or  +30 694 5859475

  3. Wow the food looks incredible. Mykonos is one of the places we're thinking of going for our Summer holiday (in October).

  4. The last pictures- with the wood ceiling and large swooping hammock- where are those pictures taken? They are stunning!

  5. Gaby,
Your guides are the absolute best! I am going to Mykonos and Santorini in a few weeks and can't wait to check all of these places out. Question for you- did you drink the tap water or eat foods washed in tap water while in Mykonos and Santorini? I have heard mixed things about people getting sick and wanted to know if you knew.

    1. we did not drink any tap water and used bottled water for brushing teeth!! But I'm sure the foods we ate were washed with tap and we were fine

    2. Rachel one of our friends did not heed our hosts warning to drink bottled water only and drank like a gallon of tap water and she was fine!!
