Iguazu Falls, Brazil

You guys, it’s time! I’m fresh off the plane from another amazing South American adventure (this time to Brazil with TAM Airlines!!) and I can’t wait to share everything I’ve seen, learned, experienced and enjoyed. It was an epic trip to say the least, filled with landscapes, beautiful animals, insanely colorful cities, amazing food and lots of sunshine... and it all started in Iguazu Falls.

Iguassu Brazil

Iguazu Falls, one of the 7 new wonders of the world, is seriously something that should not be missed. The falls are breathtaking, inspiring, and powerful. We kicked off the trip with a round of caipirinhas and got down to business. This time around, I was traveling with some old friends and a some new ones!

While in Iguazu, we experienced the falls from multiple vantage points including a river safari! We walked along the mile long path on the Brazilian side and made our way towards Devil’s Throat (one of the most epic falls ever!) Rainbows, mist and sunshine make for scenery that will never be forgotten. The falls are in a national park which doesn’t open to the public until 9am… but lucky for us, we were staying in one of the only hotels inside the park premise so we were fortunate enough to have a private tour of the falls without any other tourists! {A mega plus to staying at Hotel Das Cataratacs}

Hotel Das Cataratas is a beauty - pink with white trim, each morning you wake up with a view of the falls and more times than not, a full rainbow. The food was superb, service was excellent and the pool was a dream. The hotel has a beautiful colonial vibe and you’re never going to want to leave! Oh and the food… Iguassu was only the start of 10 days of glorious meal after glorious meal!

There were grilled hearts of palm salad, freshly caught fish, an abundance of fresh coconuts and a handful of delicious caipirinhas. It was truly a perfect beginning to this #onlyinsouthamerica adventure.

A big thank you to Fabio, the general manager of Hotel Das Cataratacs, Brazil Nuts and of course TAM Airlines for making my stay in Iguassu more magical than I could have imagined! Take a peek at some images below…

  1. Gaby, I've been following your trip on Instagram and loving every snapshot. I went to Iguazu Falls several years ago and your photos remind me that I need to get myself back to South America.

  2. holy crap, gaby...I can't believe that place is REAL! absolutely amazing. and your pictures are wonderful. so glad you shared all of this with us! (also, may I ride in your suitcase next time?)

  3. Um, I feel like you just shared a bunch of postcards with us - I mean, are those photos for real?!? Wish I could be a stowaway in your luggage on these adventures!

  4. How lucky you are to have gone to Iguazu and stayed at the hotel! A friend sent me a Powerpoint about the Falls a few months ago, and they look totally awesome. Loved the toucan pic as well as the ones of the Falls.

  5. Gaby your photos are just stunning. I just keep scrolling and scrolling. Each one gets better than the one before. That second last photo blew my mind. Gorgeous.

  6. What a coincidence! You are in Brazil on the same day I found your site.
    I am Brazilian and I really enjoyed your site.
    Too bad you came in an atypical summer because it rained very little. The waterfalls are usually much fuller.
    I hope you enjoy this trip to my country.

    A big hug for you and for Thomas.

  7. These photos are just spectacular! I feel as if I am right there with you - but will have to get myself down there to experience it all first hand! Can't wait to hear more!
