Tasty KitchenRaise your hand if you have a weakness for Strawberry Shortcakes! (Both of my hands are up in the air) And I'm totally not ashamed. Strawberry Shortcakes are like the ultimate summer dessert. But give me Chocolate Strawberry Shortcakes and you've officially won me over! I made these shortcakes a few weeks ago for a dinner party we were hosting - and then again for a personal chef client, and then again for just me and my boyfriend on a lazy weekend. I'd probably make them again tomorrow if you asked me really nicely. And the morale of this story is that these are freaking awesome. And kinda life changing. And the smart thing to do, would be to make them this weekend. If you'd rather skip the chocolate in shortcakes, you can also try my strawberry shortcake with blueberries.
The key to any great shortcakes is having super juicy and perfectly ripe strawberries. They will rock your world. I picked up some from my local farmers market. They give me lots of free samples at the farmers market. I like it, alot.
First you've got to make the chocolate shortcakes. It's a fairly simple process and can all be done in a food processor to make your clean up nice and easy.
And then comes the chantilly cream. I'd even go so far as to recommend that you make a double batch of the chantilly cream. It's probably the safe thing to do. I mean if you're like me, and tend to snack on everything while making, well, it's just the right thing to do. And it's really fancy and fun to say chantilly cream.
Then you're going to mix the strawberries with some sugar. Because more sugar is always better
And once all of those steps are done, you're going to need to assemble these little pillows of goodness.
You can check out the full recipe over on my guest post at Tasty Kitchen!
And then go ahead and make these for someone special this weekend. They will love you forever. And feel free to send any leftovers to me 🙂
