Cappuccino Brownies

Jump to Recipe

Exactly 1 month from today, on August 25th, I'm getting hitched. You guys, it feels like yesterday when I got engaged. Where on earth have these last 10 months gone? There is still so much to be done! All the little DIY projects. Homemade favors. Handmade ceramic salt and pepper cellars. Fun rustic wood accents. Picking out our wedding bands. And figuring out how the heck I'm going to do my hair for the big day.

Cappuccino Brownies : What's Gaby Cooking

I'm thinking of wearing it down, because it's not super long and I can't have a crazy messy pretty bun like I want. But I don't really know. How did you ladies wear your hair on your big day? And for the guys out there, what do you prefer? Hair up or hair down? Is one style sexier? Or more classic? These are very important questions that just need to be addressed. I mean, I'm curious! I also am curious how many people actually drink coffee at the end of a wedding. I'd rather eat a Cappuccino Brownie or eat a tiramisu.

All these questions and things mean 1 big thing. I need lots and lots of energy. And that energy comes in the form of a super dense and chewy brownie. With espresso. And milk. So basically its a Cappuccino Brownie. And I may or may not have had these for breakfast the last 2 days. It gives me a little pep to my step. And it's just that extra kick you need! Plus, we all know that espresso or coffee really makes those chocolate flavors jump out at ya! And who doesn't love a good brownie!

So the Cappuccino Brownies were born.

And you should make them. And then share them with your friends. And trust me, they will thank you. Especially if they like Cappuccinos. Or chocolate. Or super chocolaty dense gooey brownies. So basically, you can't go wrong.

So here ya go... the Cappuccino Brownies!

  • 3 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot milk
  • 5 ounces dark chocolate chopped
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ¼ cups white sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Add the dark chocolate and butter to a medium sized saucepan and place over medium heat. Let the butter and chocolate melt together and then add the espresso infused milk. Once everything is completely melted, add the cocoa powder and white sugar and stir to combine.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the eggs, one at a time. Add the vanilla extract and stir. Carefully stir in the flour until just combined.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Place the baking pan into your oven and let the brownies bake for 30 minutes and then remove. Let the brownies cool to room temperature before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

  1. I have a serious craving for brownies all of a sudden. I'm going to blame/thank you 🙂

  2. Yum! Can't wait to try these! At the time I got married, my husband was digging my shorter hair but I wanted to wear it up for the wedding. So I got a haircut and trial hairdo a couple weeks before and both of us loved the results! My hairdresser was able to pin up my hair in a messy but pretty twist with side-swept bangs. I definitely recommend taking pictures of the trial-do to help your hairdresser remember exactly what she did. But don't fret all the details; remember to enjoy your last few weeks as an engaged couple and have a wonderful wedding day!!

  3. Yay to being 1 month away! Definitely wear your hair down and messy/sexy! That's just my two cents!

  4. Congratulations, wow August 25 is so close 🙂
We're lucky that you still have time to post recipes, because these brownies look fantastic. Great recipe! Pinned 🙂

  5. EEEEeeee! I am so excited for you and your fiance, Gaby! My own wedding is about 9 months out... 🙂 I can't wait to see blog posts on all your deets. 🙂

  6. I love your blog - so fresh and yummy! And these brownies look amazing, I have 2 little kiddos so any extra caffeine is much appreciated! And I understand, hair is a very important decision for your wedding. 🙂 I got married in September in GA and wore my hair half up just to insure I wouldn't get too hot and my hair wouldn't friz like crazy. Have a great time with this last month, so exciting!

  7. I wore my hair up in like a French Twist with my longer bangs swept over to the side - it was very classic, (think Caroline Kennedy's (JFK Jr) hair on her wedding day) ... my dress was sleeveless and having my hair up, showed my dress better and looked more 'formal' for our evening wedding/reception, etc. Whatever you decide on, do a trial wedding hairdo run about a week or two before the wedding, so you and your stylist know exactly the look you are wanting ... then on your wedding day, you can just relax about your hair, you'll know that it will turn out exactly how you want, no surprises. This was very comforting for me and I'm glad I did the 'trial run'! People do like coffee to drink with their wedding cake (or whatever wedding dessert you choose) ... especially the older adults, like your grandparents and parents friends, etc. We served coffee/tea with dessert, along with the flowing champagne, wine, that was served all night, etc. All the younger people stuck with their alcoholic drinks, but I did notice the older adults in the crowd like their coffee and tea with their slice of wedding cake! These brownies sound so YUMMY!

  8. Every bride should be required to go on a cappuccino brownie diet, and you should write the book!! I'll write the forward 😉

  9. Congratulations on your up coming wedding, sooo exciting. I here your dilemma on the hair. The event goes by so quickly, but the pics are forever. I had long, curly hair at the time of my wedding, so I was able to wear a loose bun at the nape of my neck, I look at the pics and still think it looks pretty 17 years later.
As for the brownies... chocolate and esspresso! I don't think anything more needs to be said.

  10. I gave up coffee a little while ago (3 cups a day was affecting my precious beauty sleep!) but surely these babies don't count...
