Why I Love This Recipe
If you've seen my pantry on insta-stories or snapchat, you know that my spice collection is stocked and ready to go. I think I'd be able to whip up just about any spice mixture in no time and adjust based on my personal preferences. I mean, that's the beauty of making it yourself right? If you LOVE garlic, add a bit more garlic powder! Want to crank up the heat, add some extra cayenne. Or if you're cooking for picky eaters, dial down the heat a bit.
But of all the spice mixtures I make on a regular basis - none of them get used as much as my homemade taco seasoning. I use it on just about EVERYTHING. I'll use it to season steak, or add flavor to ground chicken tacos. I'll throw a few tablespoons into a pot of refried beans. I'll roast vegetables with it or add it to some chili. I've been known to add it into this Southwestern Lasagna. I mean, the possibilities really are endless. This DIY Taco Seasoning is not only delicious but it's super easy to make with spices we all probably have in our pantry right this very minute! Whip up a batch and use it next time you're doing taco night. It couldn't be easier and I promise you'll love it.

Hi,
Do you add cayenne if you add chili flakes? Didn’t see it in recipe but saw that you mentioned cayenne in your comments.
Thanks.
Delicious!
I go through store bought mixes so fast, this is nice to make my own. Frontier Co-Op spices are the healthiest spices so I use them to make the mix.
How long will this keep in the pantry? Thank you.
weeks!! but store it in an air-tight container
great spices I also add ancho chili powder adds a little smoke
The only taco seasoning I use anymore! 10/10!
Is the chili powder you use a mix of several spices or just one straight type of pepper?
just straight chili powder! I usually buy McCormick
The BEST taco seasoning recipe!!
If I want to use your taco, fajita senorita mix instead of the usual homemade taco mix, how much should I use per pound of ground protein? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
about 1-2 tablespoons per pound!
Oh man. This turned out great for me. I love it, because my late Mom didn't use the store bought taco seasoning unless she was in rush, and I've been looking for a seasoning recipe to replicate what she did with her tacos. It's that one dish that no one seems to make like Mom did. (Family joke -- one of sisters-in-law is an amazing cook, but in the 33 years she's been married to the youngest brother, she's never made tacos because she know hers won't compare.) With this stuff, though, it's darn close. This I will use all the time now!
So so good!!!!
Awesome and easy recipe for quick night tacos!! This is my go to seasoning!!
Just made these and they are awesome! I added a tablespoon of tomato paste and a little chicken stock. Yum!!
Definitely need to make this for my pantry - I use so much of it! Thank you
For how many pounds is this serving?
Can't wait to use this in place of the store brought stuff. How long will this keep for?
I'd say 2 weeks for peak freshness!
