Why I Love This Recipe
It's really one of the easiest recipes I've ever posted as it's just a combination of 3 ingredients and then covered in sprinkles or shredded coconut. I don't think the coconut covered brigadeiro is a traditional way to serve it, but I wanted to mix things up. I think coconut can really bring out a great flavor in desserts- I love some coconut vanilla scones and coconut chocolate chip cookies. Also, I'm just going to put it out there... I'm usually morally opposed to sprinkles. I have no idea why, but I'm making an exception for this Brigadeiro situation we've got going on over here today! They are a great no bake dessert and if you're into how easy these are check out my no bake double chocolate chips with almond butter.
These little chocolate balls are super sweet, gooey, dense and will satisfy any sweet tooth like whoa! Made of condensed milk and cocoa powder plus a touch of butter, these will be ready to go in no time! As I mentioned above, most are coated in chocolate sprinkles, but I jazzed a handful up with some shredded coconut! You could use crushed cookies, rainbow sprinkles, or any other topping type food that you please!

How to Make Brigadeiro
Step 1: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine cocoa powder, butter and condensed milk. Cook, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.
Step 2: The consistency should be thick after cooking. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture rest until cool enough to touch.
Step 3: Scoop the mixture into small balls, about ¾ inch in diameter, and roll in the topping of your preference. Chill before serving.
How to Store Brigadeiro
You can store brigadeiros at room temperature for a few days, but refrigerate them to extend their life to 7-10 days, especially if you are in a hot and humid climate. Place them in a glass container and make sure they are not squished.
How to Freeze Brigadeiro
You can freeze these for up to three months! Freeze in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and then transfer to a freezer bag. You can thaw them in the fridge or outside when you want to eat them.
Tips & Tricks
You could also use crushed cookies, nuts, whatever you want to add on these!
FAQs
What is the difference between a truffle and a brigadeiro?
Brigadeiros are unique in that they are made with sweetened condensed milk. They also do not have a hard chocolate coating, unlike truffles. They are soft in and out, and rolled in toppings.
What if the brigadeiro mixture is too runny to shape?
Let the batter cool more, might help chilling in the fridge for a bit for it to firm up so you can shape it more easily.

Just curious--how many does this recipe make? Having a World Cup party with a bunch of five year olds this weekend and want to make sure I have enough for them all. Thanks!
makes at least 24!!!
are very delicious
Wow, these look so delicious and it's so easy to make them! This is a must-try! Pinning it for later!
Growing up we had it at every party, and as a last minute treat. We would use nesquick or any sweetened chocolate milk powder instead of cocoa powder which made it a tad sweeter too. Sometimes we just skip rolling it into a ball and just eat it with a spoon!
How simple is this recipe? Cannot wait to try it out. They look fabulous.
I can't WAIT to try these! They look so amazing and seem so easy! My kind of treat.
These look like heaven! Just 3 Ingredients...love it!
Oh hi, this is a Brazilian talking to you. I am very glad you liked Brigadeiro. It's realy a very Brazilian thing, specially for kids birthday parties. Now, if you wanna make the coconut version of it, we do have it. It's called "Beijinho" (translation would be "little kiss"). For this one, you just skip the cocoa powder and add shreded coconut. To roll it up, use granulated sugar or shreded coconut, and to "garnish" each little ball, stuck a whole clove on top. It's so delicious and cute little candy. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beijinho
Hope you like it too! 😉
