Itโs another big food week coming up! And one thing weโve never really discussed here on WGC is the Derby! So in honor of the occasion, weโre making a Kentucky Lemonade!

One of my best friends grew up in Kentucky and was a frequent visitor to the Derby. Big hats, floral dresses, boozy cocktails and a day in the sunโฆ thatโs how she describes the Derby. So a Kentucky Lemonade feels like the right move if youโre going to be cheers-ing along at home. This super easy bourbon-laced cocktail is fantastic and can easily be prepped ahead if youโre hosting a Derby soiree! Floridaโs Natural Lemonade is the main ingredient, OBVI the best lemonade in the gameโdelicious, refreshing, and made with real cane sugar, itโs just the right balance of sour and sweet. Once youโve acquired some of that, youโll just need some of your favorite Bourbon (we use Michterโs), some fresh mint and some Ginger Ale to give it a bit of a bubbly finish.

A few tips and tricks if youโre making this at home.
1: Itโs a batch cocktail so you can easily double or triple the recipe below.
2: IF you are planning to prep this ahead of time - combine everything except the Ginger Ale. That you should add at the last minute with some ice before serving.
3: Donโt skimp on muddling the mint leaves. It adds that herby freshness to your cocktail and feels extra springy!
Alright friends - there you have it! Snag yourself some of the Floridaโs Natural Lemonade from your local market and youโre in business. And if youโre looking for food to serve at your Derby soiree, hereโs what Iโm thinking:
- Cruditรฉ Platter 101
- Avocado Deviled Eggs with Chives
- Garlic and Herb Parmesan Biscuits
- Honey BBQ Pulled Pork Burgers

Kentucky Lemonade
Ingredients
- 3 cups Florida's Natural Lemonade
- ยฝ cup fresh mint leaves
- ยฝ-โ cup Bourbon
- 6 cups ginger ale
- additional lemon slices for garnish
Instructions
- In a pitcher, combine the lemonade, mint leaves, and Bourbon, and stir to combine. Muddle the mint leaves if you want. Let sit for an hour for the flavors to meld together.
- Add ginger ale to the pitcher right before serving.
- To garish - rim a serving glass with a little honey and dip into sugar and garnish with a lemon wheel.
This was so delicious! Letting everything rest for awhile really brought out the mint taste.
Definitely will be a go-to summertime cocktail!
Is there any possible way you can show this recipe for 2 people?! What the measurements would be please!!
I may not watch the Derby, but this sounds like it is going to be the perfect summer cocktail!
