  • 1 lb medium pasta shells
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 yellow onion, finely diced
  • 6 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 pound ground chicken (dark meat preferred)
  • 1 jar

Rao’s Homemade® Tomato Basil Sauce  (Marinara Sauce, Four Cheese Sauce, Roasted Garlic Sauce and Arrabbiata all also work)

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese, plus more as needed
  • 4 ounces fresh burrata
  • fresh basil to garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the shells according to package directions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Heat butter and oil over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for a 3-5 minutes until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute. Stir and cook over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure nothing sticks.

  • Stir the cooked shells into the pasta sauce and garnish with basil and torn burrata and serve immediately.

Notes

Use any short pasta that will soak up sauce!

I doubled the recipe and brought it to our friends who'd just had a baby. It was delicious and a big hit! My only modification was to use ground Italian turkey sausage instead of ground chicken. I will definitely be making this again when we are looking for a heavier pasta dish for dinner, or need to feed a larger group.

This pasta was AH-MAZING, and SO easy. I was worried it may be a bit on the heavy side, but it was a perfect middle ground between a lighter pasta, and something heavier like the 6-cheese penne. Definitely a new staple in our house!

We made this last night! We used Morningstar veggie crumbles instead of ground chicken (a vegetarian ground beef sub). It was delicious and easy. Next time I would get the burrata out earlier to come to room temp because the pasta really didn’t warm it up enough so it was a delicious but cold lump of cheese on the dish 😐

I tried this recipe out last night and it was a hit with my family. Super easy and delicious week night meal. The only change I made was to substitute mild italian chicken sausage for regular chicken sausage.

Ummmm, yes please. I love to keep the jars of sauce stocked up, exactly for those evenings when I am in hurry and need to prepare something pretty quickly but delicious.
