This creamy tahini sauce has made many appearances here on WGC and it needs it's own page for easy reference! It's hands down one of my favorite sauces and that's saying a LOT because you all know I'm obsessed with sauces and condiments.

Let's break it down shall we...

What is Tahini?

Tahini is made of ground sesame and a staple in many Middle Eastern cuisines. It's thick and you've seen it in its simplest form in many of my recipes for homemade hummus. When you add a few extra pantry staples to tahini, you can create the most incredible tahini sauce. That sauce can be used as a salad dressing, for dipping pita bread or pita chips, adding to roasted veggies or throwing it into a wrap etc. It's wildly versatile and really easy to make.

What is in this easy Tahini Sauce:

  • Tahini
  • Lemon
  • Garlic
  • Salt
  • Water
  • a splash of olive oil

Tahini can easily be found at any grocery store but if you're obsessed like me and want to order it online, these two are my favorites and can be found here or here!

What do you use Tahini Sauce on:

Now that you know how to make tahini sauce, and what it is, go forth and enjoy! This delicious condiment is perfect on roasted veggies, in hummus or dips, or even as a salad dressing. Get creative with how you use it – the sky’s the limit! Go roast some veggies, whip up a batch of your new favorite sauce, and enjoy!

Cuisine Middle Eastern
Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • cup tahini
  • 4-5 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup water, plus more as needed
  • kosher salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a blender or food processor, blend together the tahini, lemon, oil, and garlic until smooth.
  • Slowly stream in the water until you've reached your desired consistency that you can use for drizzling on salads, veggies etc.

Notes

If you're making a triple batch of this, you might need to add a few teaspoons of water every time you use it to thin it out! Tahini is thick and absorbs liquid easily so don't be afraid to thin it out if needed with some water.
