There used to be a time when New Years Eve required a sparkly dress, 5 inch heels and a blow out at dry bar - but those days have passed. Rather than go out and spend an inordinate amount of money on a prix-fixe meal, I'd rather host everyone at our place, throw together a winter version of my favorite bruschetta bar, pop open some really great champagne and call it a night. I can't promise that I'll make it to midnight, but I can absolutely promise great cheese, great booze, and all sorts of delicious accoutrements!

What is bruschetta?

Traditionally speaking, bruschetta is a classic Italian appetizer made of toasted bread, diced tomatoes, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and fresh basil. For this recipe/board I have decided to add a little more variety so you can build out the ultimate bite with a handful of different flavors.

What goes into a perfect bruschetta bar?

Really it all depends on what your style is and what you prefer. I have found that the following ingredients play really nicely with each other give my party guests a nice variety of flavors and textures.

  • Goat Cheese dusted with peppercorns
  • Blue Cheese
  • Triple creme brie
  • Manchego cheese
  • Fresh ricotta with thyme and chopped rosemary, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Sliced Apples or Pears
  • Sliced Persimmons
  • Marinated artichokes
  • Roasted red peppers
  • Cornichcons
  • Roasted garlic cloves
  • Olives
  • Prosciutto
  • Salami
  • Paté
  • Rainforest Crackers
  • Toasted Garlic Crostini
  • Honeycomb
