Step 6: Let dry for 1 hour so the chocolate is cooled and hard. Break it up into medium pieces and store in an airtight container in the fridge or freezer.

How to Store Christmas Mix

For one you are eating in the next few days, store it in an airtight container in the fridge or outside if its just a few days.

How to Freeze Christmas Mix

I store it in an air-tight plastic bag in the freezer. I actually like it best right out of the freezer - and this way it lasts forever and doesn't go stale.

Tips & Tricks

Keep in mind that you can make this gluten-free if you want, by avoiding wheat Chex and picking up GF pretzels.

  1. Do you use the plain Cheerios? Also for banking this Christmas mix and your m&m cookies do you use the regular size M&Ms or the ones in the baking section, the tiny ones?
    Kind regards,
    Terri

  2. I bought white almond bark thinking that was the same as white chocolate and now I’m realizing that is not true (lol). Would it still be good with almond bark?!

    1. My sister in law has made a very similar recipe for years too, but hers doesn’t have M&M’s in it, uses pecans instead. Also uses Crispix cereal which is a blend of corn & rice rather than 3 different types of Chex cereal. I’m definitely making your recipe this year

    2. Did you try it with the White Almond Bark? Was it good? That is what I would have used. I think it would be perfectly fine.

    1. Did 1 cup m&m, 1 cup mini marshmallows, and 1 cup crushed andes peppermint chocolates.
Tossed 2/3 of white chocolate and drizzled the other 1/3 on top after spreading mixture onto the pan.
Topped it all off with some festive christmas sprinkles before letting it dry.

Thank you so much for this recipe! Such a fun thing to make with the kids.
We couldn't find christmas m&ms, so they got to pick all of the red and green ones out of the regular bag.

Insanely simple to make. Used a double boiler to melt the chocolate. I used 30oz of white chocolate. The mix is delicious & festive. Will package some up to share as gifts. Will plan to make every Christmas from now on!

This makes great little presents for neighbors, coworkers etc. Last year I put them in glass jars with a bow, so cute. Great, easy recipe to make with your kid and YES it's freaking addictive. I'm from Hawaii so swapped mochi crunch (Japanese teriyaki rice crackers) for he pretzels and it was so ono!

  5. Making this today for Christmas gifts and also myself because its my favorite FYI its also fun to use red and green M+Ms for the holidays!

  6. Why do you not use the Corn Chex in any of your Chex mixes? Is there something that doesn't work well with them in the mix or just a personal preference?

  7. I made the Chex mix Christmas crack one year. Now years later, a friend asked for the recipe. It was really good. Now, I will make it again too

  8. Everyone loves this, my family, neighbors and friends
I mix mini pretzels instead of the sticks in my mixture. Either way its still good!
