Mama Dalkin’s Cucumber Salad is coming in HOT!! She used to make us her version of this every night with dinner. It is the easiest cucumber salad to make. I’ve since added a few things (mainly heaps and heaps of freshly crumbled feta and herbs)! You need this on the side of all your meals!

Why I Love This Recipe
This Cucumber Salad makes an appearance on our tables at LEAST 4 nights a week - right up there with the LA Chopped. It's a perfect side salad for any Mediterranean dinner or serve it up as a quasi-salsa/topping on top of any kind of steak, chicken or fish. It's bright and light and briny and perfect. I made it on Sunday over a side of salmon... literally the definition of perfection.
Now here's the best part of the recipe - outside of the flavors....all you have to do is chop and toss. That's it! Prep all the veggies, herbs and vinaigrette, it'll take you less than 10 minutes and then toss to combine!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Persian Cucumbers - I love the Persian variety because they don't require peeling (their skin is more thin than a Hot House cucumber) and we keep them stocked at all times.
- Shallot
- Avocado - naturally. If a salad doesn't have avocado, someone check on me. It's mandatory for me!
- Fresh Dill - add in a handful of fresh basil, mint or chives for extra herby flavor.
- Feta Cheese - the kind that comes in the brine, crumbled as needed for that salty tangy deliciousness.
- Olive Oil
- Fresh Lemon Juice
- Red Wine Vinegar
- Freshly Chopped Garlic
- Kosher Salt and Freshly Cracked Black Pepper

How to Make Cucumber Salad
Step 1: Place the cucumbers, shallot, avocado, dill and feta cheese in a large bowl.
Step 2: Place the olive oil, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, garlic and salt and pepper in a small bowl. Whisk until combined.
Step 3: Pour the dressing over the vegetables and toss gently to coat.
How to Store Cucumber Feta Salad
I would recommend eating this salad fresh since you do not want the chopped up cucumber and avocado to lose their texture and freshness.
Tips & Tricks
- If you want to make this into a main course salad, it's great with some chicken, fish or steak!
- Swap out the peas on this recipe for Salmon and replace with the cucumber salad on top!

Just made this salad and decided to add roughly chopped whole almonds, chopped mint and chopped dates! OMG dead.
love to hear it!!
The best salad I’ve had in a long time! Saw it on Instagram. Made it for dinner with friends. We all had seconds on salad and then barely could finish our steaks! Thanks for sharing. It’s “my” new signature salad.
omg love to hear it!!
So delish and easy! Always a hit! The vegan feta from Trader Joe’s goes well with this if you are dairy free!
This salad is addictive! And it gives a totally new spin on cucumber salads - yum!!!
OBSESSED with this salad! This will be on repeat from now until forever. So fresh and light, yet satisfying. Could eat just a whole bowl of this for a meal!
This salad is amazing, and tastes even better the next day. I did not have fresh dill on hand so I used some green onions from the garden. I love how the avocado gives it a creaminess that keeps me coming back for more!
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful recipes, and thanks Mama D!
I saw you make this recipe on Instagram recently and decided to make it tonight. So, so good. I'm sure that this salad will become a regular on my menu. Thank you!!!
I’ve made this twice now (as is) - it’s so delicious! I served it with grilled salmon both times. It’s definitely filling and you don’t need much seasoning on your protein because it’s SO flavorful.
Our family found this recipe before new years, we've now made it five times in ten days. Very delicious and fresh addition to many of our winter meals!
I tried this recipe at the weekend, and I LOVE it! I have never tried using Dill in a salad dressing but oh its so good and fresh, brings the dish alive, especially the cucumber.
There were no leftovers, but I have made it twice since then. Thank you for such a wonderful combination.
Hi Gaby,
I made your salad yesterday…a big hit! This salad will be in my repertoire from now on! Such a great combination! The cucumber, avocado, shallots and dill…so yummy! and then the feta cheese …really brings it all together with the yummy dressing! Such a great salad! ♥️ Thank you!
I made this salad & it was both refreshing & easy to make. It will be a repeat one in my summer salad repertoire.
If I don't have fresh dill, do you think I should use dried or should I use fresh cilantro, basil or parsley?
basil would be delish! or chives
Looks delicious? How long do you think it would last in the fridge if preparing it for 1-2 people and wanting leftovers?
I just made this for dinner & it's delicious! I don't like shallots, so I left those out. I did throw in a handful of cherry tomatoes to bulk it up a little. This will be a regular for sure! Thanks for sharing!
A new favorite!! I love summer food!!
