Few things in life are certain. One of them being that swim suit season is right around the corner and I have a thing for pool parties. And really cute bright colored swimsuits. Another thing in life that is certain is that I am really bad at “dieting.” It doesn’t really work for me. Never has. Never will. I am terrible at depriving myself of something I really want. For example if I make a proclamation that I am not going to eat sugar for an entire month, I will literally give in within 24 hours. Who am I? I came to the conclusion many years ago that the best thing for me is just to eat what I want, when I want, and keep it all in moderation.

I feel like it’s basically what all those fabulous French women do, but California style. Gaby style. It’s how I roll.

One of the things I do to keep myself in check, is start my day with a smoothie. This one is part fruit, part vegetable, part freshly squeezed orange juice and some chia seeds! You could add hemp hearts, flax seed, bee pollen or whatever other add-ins you prefer! It’s bright and fresh and fruity and I love it!

  2. Haha! That’s EXACTLY how I am too! I just can NOT deprive myself of sweets or anything or it’s like I think about them and want them even more. Need this smoothie in my life. 😉

  3. You know very well that I’m not a huge juice or smoothie person (too much Jamba Juice back in the day) but this sounds awesome! Will it help me look like that Astrid chick from BBC by my trip to Mexico? I’m in need of help over here!

  4. I will be making this for me. I’m the only one in my family who likes smoothies, but they are suckers, ’cause this looks awesome.

  5. Can I make this w/o the guava juice or is there something I can use instead? I’ve tried guava juice several times and I still don’t like it.

    1. not sure!! I don’t have the technology to provide calorie count for my recipes! Sorry

  6. Does anyone know where I can find the guava juice? I’ve looked at a couple different grocery stores with no luck.

  7. Do you buy fresh guava juice? I’ve only seen it in cans at my supermarkets. I’m sure that pales In Comparison if you use fresh, no?

    1. I haven’t found it fresh before – but I agree with you, it would be incredible!

  8. I don’t have any orange juice on hand so I am going to try this with Watermelon Cooler from TJ’s! Pretty excited

Wow! Just made this delicious smoothie. It’s very tasty. You wouldn’t even know spinach is in this. It’s got a tropical flavor because of the mango but the banana balances it out. Thanks Gaby for this yummy recipe.
