Hi WGC Fam. I want to start this weeks meal plan off with a few things. 1: I am so eternally grateful for this community. 2: Thank you for all your emails, DMs, comments etc. We are safe. Our house is currently safe. Many of our friends were not as lucky and lost everything. 3: I love my city so much and it's going to take a very long time to rebuild. If you're interested in helping, stay tuned to my social channels, we'll be helping families rebuild.
And in the meantime this is my favorite organization to donate to that goes right to the firefighters. This foundation directly helps the firefighters. Approximately 97% of the city's fire budget is allocated towards personnel costs, leaving just 3% to cover all other life-safety costs. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation is the official nonprofit arm of the Los Angeles City Fire Department. The Foundation was established in 2010 to bridge critical funding gaps for essential tools, equipment, and programs. The LAFD Foundation channels donations from private, corporate, and community partners into tangible resources to help firefighters protect the people of Los Angeles.
I'm sending you guys all my love. And I'm excited to rally our community together to help as many people as possible that have been displaced. With that said...
Sunday - Matt's Sopa de Fideo is on the menu tonight. Couldn't be easier and it's very comforting.
Monday - Butternut Squash Pasta is what we all need! I'm serving it up with my go-to side dish, Roasted Broccolini
Tuesday - Garlic Butter Steak Bites! Quick, easy, protein packed and delish!
Wednesday - I'm making Ribollita! I'm obsessed with this soupy/stewy concoction!
Thursday - This Coconut Curry Noodle Soup is giving me LIFE these days!
Friday - Chicken Parmesan Meatballs!!
and some Kitchen Sink Cookies because we deserve it.
and breakfast this week - BACK TO SMOOTHIES!! Or if these are just too cold given the time of the year - I'd suggest these Feta Frittatas but with Broccoli instead of Zucchini!
When I moved to LA over two decades ago, I swore I was not staying. But I’m here because it became my home. Thank you for all you are doing to make it a better place for those who have undergone such tragedy. One of the places I like to donate is World Central Kitchen. They had more than two dozen stations set up for feeding the displaced and the first responders. 100% of donations goes to that mission. I love that you were a burrito brigade - really a perfect food for the situation. I’m shocked you wrote a menu for us when you have been working around the clock to help others! I hope LA gets some rest soon and the ability to move on to recovery. We know several medical professionals that have lost their homes, as well as a librarian. My heart breaks for every individual affected. It’s through connecting and staying compassionate and with active support we will rebuild successfully for the vast, beautiful place we call home
Please send me your incredible butternut squash lasagna recipe! Thanks, diane
