How to Store Christmas Mix

For one you are eating in the next few days, store it in an airtight container in the fridge or outside if its just a few days.

How to Freeze Christmas Mix

I store it in an air-tight plastic bag in the freezer. I actually like it best right out of the freezer - and this way it lasts forever and doesn't go stale.

Tips & Tricks

Keep in mind that you can make this gluten-free if you want, by avoiding wheat Chex and picking up GF pretzels.

Very much a Christmas favourite at our home! I am asked to bring it for sharing everywhere, even to my hairstylist’s shop. Due to a peanut allergy in our family I substitute Smarties in place of the M & M’s & it still looks very pretty.

I read a good smattering of the comments and also wondered, "why not milk chocolate?" Our mantra is to make it exactly like the recipe the first time; then you can adjust. NOTE: DO NOT CHANGE THIS RECIPE!
I prefer dark or milk chocolate too, but that's not this mix. This recipe is perfect as is! Even the super critical who start to turn their nose up at the white chocolate, just can't stop. Hide it in the deep freeze or it will be devoured.

I made a version of this using all the little bits and bobs I had left in my pantry and it still came out great! The melted candies were a combo of white chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, and chocolate chips, and the cereal mix had shreddies, rice crispies, multigrain cheerios, broken up graham crackers, and rainbow marshmallows lol. When Christmas gets closer I plan to make a legit batch of this which I know will taste even better, cheers 🙂

This has become a holiday tradition. People can't get enough. The only tricky part is watching the white chocolate to make sure it doesn't overcook. I had lumpy chocolate once, probably because I left it too long in the double boiler. Maybe that's a thing with white chocolate?!

  6. How long will it last in the refrigerator? Christmas is 5 days away will it last that long? I’m afraid it will make it taste weird if I freeze it for a couple of days!?

  7. Just made my first batch, 2 more to go. Oh my, this is so good. Giving them as Christmas gifts. Thank you so much for the recipe. Definitely will make again. Merry Christmas

I made a classic mistake of not googling how to melt white chocolate chips using a double boiler before attempting this. I now know what “seizing” chocolate means.
You’ll also need a really big bowl. This makes a lot!

This recipe has become a holiday tradition for me and my toddler. She loves making the mix and, of course, eating it. In her words, it’s “yummy in my tummy” and I agree.
