Why I love this recipe

It's pretty much a rule in our fam that when the weather hits 95+ degrees, I'm bringing out the margs. I'm bringing back one of my favorite recipes from the old blog days because it deserves to be front and center this weekend!

This Strawberry Jalapeño Margaritas came to be almost 11 YEARS AGO at our wedding. Our caterers and bartenders worked with us to craft a few specialty cocktails for our guests and this margarita was hands down the crowd fav. So much so that we ran out of tequila before happy hour was even over and had to go get some more from the market before dinner! I should note that we also did a pre-ceremony happy hour so a lot of cocktails were handed out before the actual dinner!! Clearly we've got a tequila loving crowd.

These are sweet from the strawberries, a little spicy from the jalapeño and the perfect refreshing cocktail after a long week!! (Psst! If you love this recipe, you have to try my refreshing Strawberry Basil Lemonade!) The recipe below serves 2, but you can easily batch these up and make them ahead of time if serving a crowd. Just make sure to give the mixture a stir before pouring so you ensure the alcohol is evenly combined!

Ingredients

  • Ripe Strawberries
  • Jalapeño
  • Limes, juiced
  • Agave Nectar
  • Blanco Tequila
  • Sparkling Water

How to make Strawberry Jalapeño Margaritas

  • Combine the strawberries and jalapeño pepper in a small blender and blend until smooth. Strain if you prefer but I’m lazy and usually don't bother. Pour the contents of the blender in a shaker.
  • Add the lime juice, agave nectar and tequila and a handful of ice. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake for 30-60 seconds to mix and chill the margarita
  • Strain the juice out and serve the Strawberry Jalapeño Margaritas over ice with a splash of sparkling water

Tips and Tricks

The recipe below makes enough for roughly 2 margaritas, but lets be honest, if you've having friends over, you might want to 4x the Strawberry Jalapeño Margaritas recipe!! And the best way to batch this cocktail is in the blender. Blending together those beautiful summer strawberries with jalapeños is quick and easy and then all you have to do is basically add in your tequila. Here's a pro tip: this strawberry jalapeño mixture will freeze beautifully so if you want to make a big batch and then freeze some of the juice in ice cube trays, you can use that all fall/winter long for fresh strawberry margs! You are WELCOME!

  1. this sounds delicious! if I wanted to make this a mocktail, what liquid should I use to replace the alcohol?

  2. 5 stars
My husband and I had a little barbecue with some friends today. I mixed up the strawberry jalapeño margarita, and I have to tell you it was the best margarita I’ve ever had. Hands-down Gabby!!

I have lots of strawberries - now if only the weather would cooperate....
    These look so refreshing!

  4. Awesome stuff!!! We really enjoyed these. One thing i did that made them that much better was add a little twang hot lime beer salt to the rim mix. Came out great!!!

  5. Gabby,

I tried this and it came out very thick almost like a v8 juice have you ever added water or have I done something else

    1. it's supposed to be a bit thicker! but you could add a dash of sparkling water if you want to thin it out a bit!

  6. Looks amazing! If you were making this for a party, would you go ahead and mix everything to put in a drink dispenser then use the ice/shaker for the individual margies? Just one jalapeno slice per 2 drinks? Super excited to try this out...thank you!

  7. Hi Gaby! This sounds like a great combo! Can't wait to try it - thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

  8. If it weren't for the fact that my veins don't have taste buds (an image which I am now sufficiently creeped out just thinking about...), I would totally say an IV drip is the way to go with his bad boy. I mean, yeah -- just all the things, plug 'em right in. Humbled and supes haps (sorry) to have you hanging out with us for #SoLetsPigOut, Gaby! I await the day when real life hang time can happen. Until then -- cheers! <3 xo - Em

  9. If it weren't for the fact that my veins don't have tastebuds (an image that I am sufficiently creeped out just picturing, by the way...), I'm pretty sure an IV drip would be the way to go with this bad boy. Thanks so much for joining our little potluck, Gaby! Humbled and supes haps (sorry...) to have you around. 🙂

  10. I loooooove margaritas! Of any kind. Def excited to try one with a little heat! Where's my blender...
